OpenReviews reviews in your AI assistant
Add OpenReviews to ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant, then ask it whether a product is any good. It answers with the rating, the number of reviews analyzed, the strengths and weaknesses, and the link to the OpenReviews product page. No account, no key.

The connector address
The OpenReviews connector is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, the format ChatGPT, Claude and most assistants use to connect to a service. All it needs is this address:
https://api.openreviews.io/mcpNo account, no API key, no authentication. The connector is read-only: it cannot publish or change anything.
In Claude
OpenReviews is listed in Claude's connector directory: open the OpenReviews listing.
- Open the OpenReviews listing with the link above, or search for “OpenReviews” in the directory from Claude's Connectors settings.
- If the listing does not already show it as connected, connect it with the button on the listing. No account is needed.
- In a conversation, check that OpenReviews is turned on in the tools menu, then ask your question.
If the listing does not open, for example because your organization restricts connectors, you can also add OpenReviews as a custom connector: in Connectors, choose “Add custom connector”, with the name OpenReviews and the URL https://api.openreviews.io/mcp, no authentication.
Menu labels may change from one version of Claude to another.
In ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT's settings, then Apps & Connectors.
- In the advanced settings, turn on developer mode.
- Create a connector: name OpenReviews, URL https://api.openreviews.io/mcp, no authentication.
- In a conversation, add OpenReviews from the “+” menu, then ask your question.
Developer mode is not available on every ChatGPT plan, and menu labels may change.
In another assistant or code editor
Any MCP client that accepts a remote server (“Streamable HTTP” transport) can use OpenReviews. Most accept a configuration like this one, to adapt to their format:
{ "mcpServers": { "openreviews": { "url": "https://api.openreviews.io/mcp" } }}Then ask your question
Once the connector is added, talk to your assistant as usual and name the product: its brand and name, its barcode or the link to its openreviews.io page. For example:
- “What do buyers say about the adidas Handball Spezial?”
- “Que disent les acheteurs de la crème Mains et Ongles d'Endro ?”
- “Reviews of barcode 3701761500545”
- “Which shoes are the top-rated by buyers?”
Most product names in the catalog are in French: the brand and the product's original name give the best results.
What your assistant receives
For each product, the connector returns:
- the average rating and the number of reviews analyzed, with the date of the last update;
- a summary of buyers' opinions, with the main strengths and weaknesses;
- a few recent review excerpts, without author names, marked when the purchase was verified;
- the link to the product page on openreviews.io, so the answer can be checked.
For a category, it returns the top-rated products. When a product has no summary yet, it says so instead of guessing.
The rating and the summary are produced with the method described on the Methodology page.
The connector's tools: search_products (find a product), get_product_reviews (its summary), top_products (the top-rated of a category), and search and fetch, in the format ChatGPT expects.
Your data
The connector does not receive your conversation: only the request your assistant sends it, that is a product name, brand, barcode, category or link, and the requested language. It does not store it and requires no account.
Your assistant processes your conversations under its own privacy policy.
The details are in our privacy policy, section 12.
Help
- Product not found: try fewer words, the brand alone, or the product's name as it is sold.
- No summary: the product is known, but its reviews have not been analyzed yet.
- The assistant does not use OpenReviews: check that the connector is turned on in the conversation, or ask it to look up OpenReviews.
